One of the original creators behind the well-known frozen dessert company Ben & Jerry's has announced that corporate owner the multinational conglomerate blocked the introduction of an innovative pro-Palestinian frozen dessert product.

The entrepreneur, that co-founded the business alongside his partner, disclosed how he plans to personally create this new product as part of a personal series showcasing issues the company has been prevented from addressing publicly.

Ongoing Dispute Involving Founders and Corporate Owner

The recent development escalates the continuing conflict among the internationally recognized ice cream maker and Unilever, the British packaged goods corporation that has owned Ben & Jerry's for over two decades.

The co-founders have claimed that Unilever and its ice cream arm the Magnum brand improperly prevented Ben & Jerry's against "honouring its social mission".

The Fruit Flavor as a Symbol for Support

Mr. Cohen revealed via social media how he's developing a new watermelon-flavored frozen dessert, requesting consumer ideas for the product's name and additional components.

“I'm doing what they couldn't,” Mr. Cohen commented in his kitchen. “I'm making a watermelon-flavored ice cream that advocates for lasting ceasefire for Palestinians while demanding repairing the damage that occurred in the region.”

The watermelon has emerged as a symbol of solidarity with Palestinians because of its coloration, that match those of the Palestinian flag – red, green, black and white.

Historical Social Engagement plus Recent Changes

Several years ago, Ben & Jerry's refused to sell its products in areas under Israeli control, resulting in the parent company selling the Israeli operation over to a local licensee, thus allowing ongoing distribution within disputed territories.

This upcoming dessert series will be created through Ben's Best, the socially conscious dessert company that was first created several years back for endorsing ex- political contender Senator Sanders with the product "Bernie's Return".

Management Changes and Future Plans

The founder stated that he plans to develop other frozen dessert varieties focusing on issues which the company was prevented from addressing publicly by corporate restrictions.

The announcement comes after partner Jerry Greenfield stepped down his position at Ben & Jerry's recently, following many years of involvement, mentioning worries regarding how its independence was compromised after corporate moves to curb their advocacy work.

Previously, Mr. Cohen remarked how “My partner has strong compassion and this conflict with Unilever was deeply distressing him."

“My conscience leads me to keep working within the organization to advocate for its independence so that the company can achieve its ethical purpose, the principles that established its foundation and has maintained for over 40 years," he told journalists.
