The co-creator of Call of Duty, who helped create the immensely successful video game Call of Duty, has died in a car accident in California aged 55.

Zampella's death was announced by Electronic Arts, which owns Respawn Entertainment, the development studio that he helped create.

The influential industry figure died after his car crashed and was engulfed in flames on a highway in Los Angeles on Sunday, as reported by.

"This is a devastating loss, and our hearts are with Vince's loved ones, his loved ones, and the countless individuals inspired by his legacy," an official with Electronic Arts said.
