The Secret Organization is poised to make a major impact in the forthcoming season on Netflix of One Piece, even if the major clash won’t unfold until season 3, and a cherished, popular member has just been cast.

Netflix announced this week that Cole Escola is now part of the One Piece upcoming season’s lineup and will embody Bon Clay. This character has the ability to change into an identical duplicate of any individual they’ve made contact with with their right hand. The performer, who is non-binary and prefers they/them pronouns, will depict a rendition of that role re-envisioned as gender non-binary, as opposed to as a drag queen, in the live-action series, as in the original manga and anime.

Escola joins multiple new cast members who will portray the group to reality, including chief Sir Crocodile, portrayed by the seasoned performer, a talented actress as Miss Goldenweek, and an accomplished actor, who will appear as the lineup as King Nefertari Cobra of Alabasta.

Though Bon Clay is a key figure of the group, the individual won’t appear until One Piece the third season. Given the next season expected to adapt the Little Garden storyline, this represents a significant shift in the schedule of the character’s debut, one that could signal additional alterations to the plot development.

The actor’s combination of excellent comedic sense and deep sensitivity makes them a standout choice for the role. Along with their recent voice performance in the animated coming-of-age film Boys Go to Jupiter, they received high praise and numerous honors for penning and acting in the popular theatrical show Oh Mary!, highlighting the range they’ll contribute to one of One Piece’s highly regarded figures.
